Maqami

Amaani

Maqami, derived from my native language Urdu, signifies "native" and refers to the indigenous flowers and flora of a region. These natural elements serve as a reflection of my personal journey towards reconciling multiple cultural identities. As a Pakistani artist residing between Melbourne/ Perth and London, the concepts of home and self-hood are central to my work. Native flora such as flowers, bushes, and trees provide me with a grounding sense of connection and understanding.
